RSVP Event page

This conference is intended to help planters, pastors, and leaders better navigate through the minefield of competing missional ideas while remaining faithful to the rich story-line of the bible.

Over the last 20 years N.A. churches have shown a growing interest in God’s mission through his church. This encouraging trajectory is not without its challenges. As the church explores and adopts a more missional posture, there is a growing discomfort that these practices have become another pragmatic growth strategy. Sadly, the term “missional church” is more commonly used as a slogan to indicate a trendy way of doing ministry rather than a deeply understood narrative running through Genesis to Revelation.

How can the church encourage its missional identity in a biblically faithful way? What are the unique contemporary challenges the church must grapple with? What biblical and missional history can we glean from? What influence does the emergent church literature have in shaping our missional understanding and practice? What idols must we avoid and what truths can we turn to so that our practices are arrived at through deep biblical reflection? These questions and more will be the focus of our time together.

Schedule

Friday, March 11

9:10a: Greetings
9:15a: Worship
9:30a: S1-Our Missional God: His Church in the World
11:00a: R1-Reflection Questions & Discussion

12:00p: Lunch

1:30p: S2-Our Missional Movement: Gathered and Scattered
3:00p: R2-Reflection Questions & Discussion
4:30p: Worship

Saturday, March 12

9:15a: Worship
9:30a: S3-Our Missions: The Church’s Horizon
11:00a: R3-Reflection Questions & Discussion

12:00p: Lunch

1:30p: S4-Our Missionary Encounter: Culture
3:00p: R4-Reflection Questions & Discussion
4:30p: Worship and Wrap-up

Acts 29 Regional Training
March 11-12, 2011
Mission: More than a Slogan
God, His Mission and the role of the Church
Cost: $79
Location: Infusion Church (Escondido)
Speakers: Mike Goheen & David Fairchild

When: November 17-19, 2009
Where: Escondido, CA
Cost: $149 (Lunches included)
Contact: leah@kaleochurch.com

This is our second Total Church Conference and will take much of what we discussed last year and move forward what it looks like to live in Jesus community on Jesus mission motived by the Gospel of Jesus Kingdom.

The conference format will foster greater discussion and participation from all who come to participate. Each day we’ll have several groups that we’ll break into in order to think through the implications of the sessions. Then we’ll take the findings of each group and discuss them together with the session speakers who will interact with their ideas. This is an ideal conference for those wanting to guide their church into a more community oriented mission. It will also greatly help new or potential church planters as well as leaders, thinkers and congregates that are interested in living more intentionally for mission as they are empowered by the Gospel of God’s scandalous grace. Jesus is the central figure of this conference and we’ll be discussing his life, work, teaching, purpose, plan and power for the transformation of His glorious bride, the Church.

"Earlier this year I attend a conference hosted by Kaleo called, "Living at the Crossroads: Church & Mission Kairos." The content and speakers of the conference were great. However, it was the format of the conference that set it apart for all others. In most conferences you merely attend. You show up, sit down, and listen to the expert wax poetic. In between each session you trade thoughts with other attendees and begin to exsorb in the truth being exposited. Then, just as you are really beginning to soak it all up, another session begins. I've benefited somewhat from this format but always longed for more of those fruitful "in-between times." Well, this is exactly what I got at Living at the Crossroads. You don't attend. You participate. It was a meeting of minds and souls to discern what Lord is doing in our midst. The speakers engage in dialogue with all the conference participants. The group broke away into smaller groups to work through what was being presented. We then returned to share with rest of the group what we concluded. It was one long unending "in-between time" that is still challenging me today. A run of the mill conference will never satisfy me again. I've drunk from a better fountain."

Be the Church

Total church is a way of thinking about church and mission in the 21st century which sees the local Christian community as integral to Christian living and Christian mission. The Christian life is 'total church' - our identity is communal.

Why Attend?

Make your community a community of church planters.

See what it means to be the church on mission through ordinary life with gospel intentionality.

Dialog with missional church leaders from across the world.

Learn from seasoned practitioners how to form missional communities and transition traditional churches toward mission.

Dates: August 12-14, 2008

Location: San Diego
